We Were Nominated For The Liebster Award

Liebster Award

Recently we were nominated for the Liebster Award, which is an award given to upcoming bloggers. Thank you AnneSo & Arno from Love Live Travel for nominating us! We will be passing this award on but first we will share our answers to the 11 questions they gave us…

1. Your best trip?

We just looked at each other and knew the answer to this straight away. Our best trip was our first trip together on the East Coast of Australia. It was amazing. This trip made us realise we wanted to travel together long-term.

2. What do you find the most difficult while travelling?

Sandy: Well since I’m a budget traveller, sometimes I find it difficult to always eat healthy while on the road, especially when I’m not in a routine or when I’m volunteering in exchange for food as I don’t have full control over what I eat. Health is definitely something I need to start making a priority.

Will: Not having a routine at the gym. However, recently I’ve bought an exercise band, skipping rope and a few other gizmos which are lightweight to travel with and I can use anywhere. No excuses now!

3. Tell us about your first trip together?

In the summer of 2013/14 we hired a camper van and travelled along the East Coast of Australia, swimming at every beach along the way and stopping in Sydney to watch the NYE fireworks (which was unreal). It was a short trip but we definitely want to re-live it and go for longer next time.

4. How important is social media to you and how do you use them?

Like any other travel blogger, social media is important to us when trying to get our message out to the world. We used to mainly focus on Facebook (posting every day), however since buying a GoPro earlier last year we now have a slight obsession with sharing quality photos on our Instagram accounts: @adventures.with.sandy @will.travel

5. Your craziest dream?

Sandy: Visiting 100 countries before I’m 30. When I tell people this dream they think it’s unrealistic, which I guess is why it’s a crazy dream…Don’t know if I’ll actually manage to see 100 countries by then (since I prefer to experience countries/cultures properly through slow travel) but I’d rather be working towards achieving my dream than living life any other way.

Will: Well if sleep paralysis involving demons is classed as a crazy dream then definitely that! haha. My craziest dream is to spend the rest of my life going with the flow and not having to plan anything too in advance.

6. Do you have a tip that you would like to share with us?

Things don’t always go to plan so travel without any expectations.

& Don’t pre-judge places based on what one person told you, go see the world through your own eyes.

7. If you had to change something, what would it be?

It would definitely be to have chased the sun all year round but unfortunately over the past couple of years we ended up in Europe for the winter due to events outside of our control. We’re making the most of it now but after this winter we will definitely be chasing the summer on our travels.

8. How many countries have you visited?

Sandy: 14 (including Australia), Will: 13 (including England) and we’ve travelled to 10 countries together. However we believe that you can’t define a traveller by the number of countries they’ve visited, only by the experiences they have had.

9. If you never had to work again, what would you do with your life?

We’d continue doing what we’re already doing; travelling the world, learning about different ways of life, trying new things and educating others (but if we didn’t have to work we’d obviously have unlimited money so we wouldn’t have to be such tight arses along the way). Eventually we’d discover our favourite tropical location, base ourselves there and start a family.

10. What are you hobbies?

Sandy: Travelling, learning about different cultures and languages, walks on the beach, yoga, reading personal development books, blogging.

Will: Travelling, taking pictures, working out, Netflix, watching sport, enjoying a beer on a hot day, chilling out whilst listening to deep house mixes.

11. Anything else you would like to tell us about you?

We’re currently volunteering our way around Europe with a company called Work Away and will be looking for paid work over the Summer.

  1. I like your point about counting experiences instead of countries. I think that’s important. I see so many travelers who count countries rather than living within the moment and appreciating each and every experience. You could spend a year traveling within one country and experience a lot more than someone who jumps from country to country. Congrats on the award by the way, have a great weekend 🙂

    1. Yeah exactly! We’ve been travelling together almost non-stop for 18 months and have only been to 10 countries, 5 of which we want to go back and experience ‘properly’ as they were just short trips. In this time we have had some amazing experiences and learned so much about the world. Thanks for taking the time to read our post and comment 🙂
