I think a lot of long-term travellers can relate to having had some kind of ‘Eat Pray Love’ experience throughout their journey. We certainly have. Travel completely changes your outlook on life; it makes you realise how precious life is and how important it is to maintain a healthy body, mind and spirit to really make the most of our time here. We believe that travelling to new places and experiencing new things is so good for our health. Though let’s not forget all the other factors that are just as important in living a healthy lifestyle.
The following post was contributed by the team behind LSEO. We totally align with all these upcoming trends and hope to see fellow travellers inspired to take action in living a healthier lifestyle in 2019. Enjoy!
The new year is just around the corner, and with it, all those New Year’s resolutions, a time when many of us think about improving our health and wellness. Experts say these are some of the trends to watch for and consider following in 2019.
Reconnecting with Nature
Digital detoxes have been the “big” thing in recent years, but now, instead of just turning our electronic gadgets off for a while, it’s time to take it up a notch and reconnect with nature. You’ll still want to leave your smartphones and other gadgets at home, but next year (or sooner), aim to get outdoors more, taking a hike through the woods, a stroll on the beach, breathing that fresh air without staring at a screen. It’s incredible what being in the Great Outdoors can do for our health, including providing a major endorphin rush, relieving stress, and even boosting creativity. Pay attention to all the little things, the flowers, the feel of the sun on your skin – all of it, without the distractions.
Spinning has been all the rage for a while now, but it seems that next year will bring the rise of rowing studios, something that’s already started in major cities like the Big Apple’s CITYROW and Club Row in Sydney, Australia. They’re popping up all over the U.K. too, with classes set to classical music that seriously blasts out of mega-size speakers.
If extremely loud music doesn’t sound like your cup of tea, you might want to sign up for sound therapy next year if not sooner. This more calming type of therapy is expected to become one of the top trends of 2019, providing wellness benefits through the healing power of sound vibrations, using gongs, singing bowls, tuning forks and the like to encourage natural healing. For example, Tibetan singing bowls have been found in studies to help ease anxiety and depression, lower stress levels, reduce blood pressure and provide a feeling of peace and tranquility within. That’s why sound classes have become increasingly popular and are predicted become even more so in the coming year.
Relaxation and Mindfulness
There has been a major uptick in people choosing to book a health retreat as all or part of their vacations, and that trend is expected to skyrocket in 2019, with more and more mindfulness- and wellness-focused experiences being offered around the world to help people create space for themselves and experience healing on the inside and out. Of course, a retreat in beautiful surroundings near a wide range of attractions doesn’t hurt either.
